General Consultation
Your Initial Appointment Will Usually Consist of a Complete Evaluation Including:
Our philosophy is to spend as much time as necessary learning about every new patient's oral health, prior to making treatment decisions. For more complex cases, a second appointment is necessary to further discuss alternatives.
On occasion, for more complex needs, a second appointment may be necessary to review and further discuss treatment alternatives. If this is done, treatment options and associated costs are clearly spelled out before any treatment is started.
A dental ‘cleaning’ is typically not done at this initial visit. It is important that we assess the current periodontal status in order to determine what type of dental ‘cleaning’ is needed. In this way we can schedule the time that is needed in order to provide for a proper cleaning
We encourage you to involve yourself in your own treatment throughout our relationship. We also would like to know from you what you desire from us as your dental care provider. In our opinion, an informed and involved client is most likely to achieve the highest level of health. We look forward to working with you to achieve this goal.
Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your initial visit:
  • Any duplicate x-rays if applicable
  • A list of medications you are presently taking
  • This will save time and allow us to help process any claims.
We May advise Dental X- Ray
Dental  X- Ray may be necessary as a part of your examination. Among other things ,dental X – Ray can help to assess tooth decay and Periodontal disease. In Childrens the X – Rays are used to to evaluate the growth and development of the mouth.
As a part of your visit, we will teach you the best way to keep your mouth healthy. We will review your brushing and flossing techniques, discuss good dietary habits and may suggest additional tools to help keep your mouth clean. Keeping your teeth clean is the most important thing that you can do to prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease.
IMPORTANT: All patients under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the first visit.

Your child’s first dental visit
Your child’s first dental visit can take place as early as the first tooth appears through the gum. How do you know when this will take place?
  • The first baby teeth that come into the mouth are the two bottom front teeth, approximately 6-8 months of age.
  • Next to follow will be the 4 upper front teeth
  • All the other teeth will appear periodically and usually in pairs along the jaw until the child is about 2 ½ years old.  At this time they will have their first 20 teeth.
  • Between the ages of 5 and 6 the first permanent teeth will appear. Some permanent teeth replace baby teeth and some do not.
It is important to remember that the dental health of baby teeth is very important as they not only hold space for permanent teeth but they are important for chewing, biting, speech and appearance.
What should I tell my child about the first dental visit?
  • Take your child for a “preview” or online tour of our office.
  • Read books with them about going to the dentist.
  • Review our online educational software module created specially for children.
  • Speak positively about your own dental experience.
This first visit is usually short and involves very little treatment.  We may ask that you sit in the dental chair and hold your child during the examination.  The dentist will gently examine your child’s teeth and gums.  X-Rays may be taken (to reveal decay or to check on the progress of your child’s permanent teeth under the gums.)
When will my child need to schedule regular dental visits?
As children begin to grow and completely develop their first primary teeth, we will clean your child’s teeth and apply topical fluoride to help protect the teeth against decay.  We will also determine if your child is receiving adequate fluoride at home and begin to schedule for regular recare visits.  And most importantly, we will review with you how to help clean and care for your child’s teeth.

First Visit For Adults
Your initial appointment will consist of a comprehensive oral examination and oral cancer examination, periodontal charting, and any necessary x-rays will be taken.  For adults, we will have a consultation time to discuss treatment needed, including what “type” of cleaning you will need and how much time to reserve for you in our schedule (adults will not   have their teeth cleaned this day).
Adults can expect to be here for approximately 30 – 40   minutes.  We also will give you estimates on any determined treatment.  Children and teens will have their teeth cleaned this day and can expect to be here from 20-30 minutes depending on age.  A parent and/or guardian must accompany the child so we may go over any needed treatment. Please alert the office if you have ever had, or currently have, a heart murmur, rheumatic fever, mitral valve prolapse or artificial joints, you may need to be pre- medicated for any dental appointment.

Computerized Records
Traditional dental records have many drawbacks. They can be lost or misplaced. If an x-ray is placed in the wrong chart, it is as good as gone. Also, according to studies, paper dental charts can become contaminated with bacteria over their lifetime as they travel from the file cabinet to the dental operatory.
Computerized records, on the other hand, have many advantages. It is virtually impossible to lose record.
As digital records are stored on a secure server and they are backed up daily, they are never lost. The data can be reviewed in the dental operatory, the doctor’s private office or remotely should you have an emergency.
A digital records cannot be contaminated with bacteria. It is a much better system.

Current research   shows indicates that  problems with  your mouth can affect your overall health. The opposite also true . It  is most important to   detect dental problems early so that  your mouth and entire body  remain healthy.
Examination of the teeth
Among dental problem caries or tooth decay is the most common. Before begein any treatment a thorough examination of all teeth present in the mouth is done. At this point each tooth is screend for decay, discolouration, mobility, fracture , etc. Decay spotted at the early stage save the inrvaluable natural tooth structure. It also save you from pain & discomfort.
Periodontal Examination
Periodontal ( Gum disease ) affects three out of four adults at some time in their lives. It does not necessarily  hurt
And you may not even be aware  you have it until an advanced stage. Regular dental visits  are essential for detecting
Periodontal   disease at an early stage , before the gums and supporting  bone are irreversibly damaged. We  will screen your  mouth for signs of periodontal disease  every time  you visit  our  office  for an oral examination  and Prophylaxis ( teeth cleaning ).
We Screen for early detection of   Precancerous lesions.

Bite and TMJ evaluation
We check your bite for to make sure that you can clew property & check your temporomandibular joint for signs of probleam. Bad bite or maloclunion can cause joint pain. Sometime when the teeth do not bite together in hormony with the shape & position of joints it can place pressure on the joints. Missing tooth can be sometimes contribute to this as well. The malalignment can also put strain on the jaw muscles. This facter can be mild to severe.
Bite Adjustment
A bite is considered to be healthy when all or most of the teeth are present and not destroyed by normal daily usage.
It is destructive when teeth show wear, looseness or when TMJ (jaw joint) damage is seen. Bite therapy helps restore a bite that can function without damage and destruction. The therapy may include:
Reshaping the biting surfaces of the teeth and eliminating spots of excessive pressures where the teeth are brought into contact. This is done by carefully dividing bite pressures evenly across all of the teeth.
Bite splint therapy using a custom-fitted and adjusted plastic bite guard to keep the teeth apart, day, night ,or both.
  • Braces to reposition mal-aligned or drifted teeth.
  • Replacement of old, worn out, or damaged fillings.
  • Reconstruction of badly worn and damaged teeth.
Oral Cancer Screening with head/neck Examination
At an early stageDuring  your examination ,we also will screen for pre-cancerous changes in your oral tissues , head and neck.Oral cancer is the only cancer in body can be prevented and lesion detrected can be more successfully treated. We will check your head ,neck and oral tissues for lumps ,masses, growths ,red or white  patches and recurring sore areas.
