Mouth is a Mirror
Mouth is A Mirror
The mouth is considered to be the mirror of the human body. It is perhaps the most sensitive biological indicator of one’s health. In addition to expressing joy, anger and sorrow, it also fulfils your body’s paramount requirements like nutrition and speech. Well then, let's get down to some serious image building.
Good Food, Healthy Teeth
Good nutrition is the cornerstone of healthy development. Food with high sugar content is at best avoided. Simply because sugar produces acid and it is this acid that attacks the enamel of the teeth and starts destroying it. Avoid toffees and chocolates and if you want to eat them, eat them with meals and not in between meals. Stick to fruits and green vegetables, they really work.

What is Dental Floss?
Dental floss is another easy-to-use home tool that helps remove plaque from all the areas that your tooth brush can't reach. In particular the plaque that builds up between teeth, and also around the gum. If not removed regularly, all this plaque build-up can cause irritation and decay.
Why is flossing essential?
You must remember that flossing is just as important as brushing. This is because it reaches 35% of the tooth surface that your tooth-brush cannot reach.

What is the proper way to floss one's teeth?
Here are a few simple but easy steps to ensure flossing is done properly.

Break off about 18 inches of floss and wind one end around the middle finger of one hand, and the other end around the middle finger of the other hand.

Now hold the floss firmly between both the middle fingers and your corresponding thumbs, or forefingers.

Insert the floss gently between the teeth, never snap the floss into the teeth. You may have to pull it back and forth, so that it gets to the exact spot where the two teeth contact.

Now hold the floss firmly against one tooth curving it into a ‘C’ shape. Then glide it upwards, and downwards against this tooth.

After completing this task on one of the two teeth, glide the same floss on the other tooth (the one just next to it). Then curve the floss into a ‘c’ shape, and repeat the same procedure. That is, one tooth at a time.

To remove the floss, let’s go of one end from one finger, and let the other end slide through. Repeat this procedure on the rest of your teeth.

Do not forget the back part of your very last tooth, it needs a little flossing too!

For best results, be gentle, and take the time necessary to do a proper job. Initially your gums may bleed and become tender for the first few days. But don’t worry, gums will heal as the plaque is broken up and bacteria are removed. If the bleeding persists, do see your dentist.
