Our entire office functions on computerized office charts as we believe firmly in
their efficacy and safety. Traditional dental records have their share of drawbacks.
They can be misplaced and there is also scope for alarming confusion, especially
if an x-ray is placed in the wrong chart. Besides this, studies have shown that
paper dental charts can become contaminated with bacteria over their lifetime as
they travel from the file cabinet to the dental operatory. Computerized records,
on the other hand are virtually impossible to lose and the data can be reviewed
in the dental operatory, the doctor’s private office or even remotely in case of
an emergency. Moreover, digital records cannot be contaminated with bacteria.
